Barbara L. Jung, O.D.

Dr. Jung is a third generation Californian. She completed her optometry pre-requisite courses at UC Davis. She graduated from Pacific University in Oregon with a bachelors degree in Visual Science. She received her doctorate degree in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1981. Upon graduation, Dr. Jung returned to the Bay Area and established her practice in 1984. Her special interests are children's vision, contact lenses, and laser vision correction. She is California optometric board certified and licensed to diagnose and treat eye diseases. Dr. Jung is a member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Jung and her husband, Gary, live in Milpitas with their children, Jeffrey, who is studying at UC Santa Cruz and Jana, who will be attending UC Santa Barbara.
During her free time, Dr. Jung enjoys skiing, reading and spending time in Lake Tahoe with her family and two shelties, Misty and Cassie.

Patricia N. Hom, O.D.

Dr. Patricia Hom grew up in Silicon Valley, graduating from Monta Vista High school in Cupertino. She received her undergraduate degree in Economics from UCLA. She then completed her doctorate at the University of California Berkeley, School of Optometry in 1997. Afterwards, Dr. Hom trained at a residency with the Palo Alto Veteran's Administration in Primary Care and Low Vision. This began her love of Low Vision, the specialty of helping recapture functional vision with magnifiers and telescopes for individuals with vision loss from eye diseases such as diabetes, macular degeneration and glaucoma.

From 1998 to 2001, Dr. Hom served on the Board of Directors for the Santa Clara County Optometric Society (SCCOS). She was honored as the SCCOS Young Optometrist of the Year in 2002. She is a member of the Health Advisory Committee for the Berkeley YMCA Headstart program. Dr.Hom is also a member of the Ocular Surface Disease Society of Optometrists and is trained in the treatment of Dry Eye and associated conditions. And, most recently, Dr. Hom and her husband traveled to Nicaragua to serve as Medical Missionaries with Medical Wings International, a group of health care professionals associated with the United Nations.

Dr. Hom and her husband currently live in the Tri-Cities area with their young son. In her spare time, Dr. Hom enjoys cooking new recipes, reading biographies, singing when allowed and hiking the East Bay Parks.

Alpa Shroff, O.D.

Dr. Alpa Shroff is originally from Canada and moved to the Bay Area with her husband.
Dr. Shroff completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo and obtained her doctorate degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
She has received extensive training in Primary Care, Pediatrics, Glaucoma and post-op management of patients who have undergone cataract and laser surgery.

Dr. Shroff provides primary and emergency eye care to patients of all ages in the community.
She particularly enjoys examining the pediatric population and tries to make it a fun and stress-free experience.
She also has a particular interest in fitting the latest technology in contact lenses in order to provide her patients with the best vision and comfort possible.

Dr. Shroff enjoys being involved in the optometry community and is currently serving as the Memberships Co-chairperson for the Santa Clara Optometric Society.
In her free time she enjoys playing tennis, yoga and has recently taken up golf.

Judy Nguyen, O.D.

Dr. Judy Nguyen is originally from Sunnyvale, California. She attended undergrad at UC Davis, and majored in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior.  She then moved on to do research for a few years at the Center for Neuroscience, at UC Davis. After college, she did research for a few years in a neuroscience lab, and missing the interaction with people, she attended Optometry school at Nova Southeastern University, receiving a bachelor's in Vision Science in 2008 and her Doctorate in 2010. She got extensive training in Ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, in Miami, Florida, including Glaucoma, retinal diseases, cancers, corneal diseases, and pre and post-op management of patients who have undergone cataract, laser, retinal and corneal surgeries.

Dr. Nguyen provides primary and emergency eye care to patients of all ages in the community. She also has a deep interest in Glaucoma.

During her free time, she enjoys running (training for marathons), rock climbing, and exploring new places to Yelp.

Johanna

Johanna has been with East Hills Vision Care for 21 years. She has been our dedicated Office Manager for many years. She received her American Board of Opticianry licence in 1992. She grew up in Colombia but has been in the Bay area since 1987.

Johanna is our in house Medical Billing Specialist and is extremely knowledgeable about all medical insurance carriers.

Ivelia & Joe

Ivelia is our Front Office Manager at East Hills Vision Care. She takes great pride in ensuring that all patients are given the best service in eyecare at our office.Ivelia is bilingual in English and Spanish and has been in the optical field for the last 5 years.

Joe received his Diploma as an Ophthalmic Technician in 1992 from Bryman Campus in San Jose. Immediately following this he completed an externship at Ocular Labs in San Jose and gained detailed knowledge in the manufacturing and production of all types of Single vision and multifocal lenses. Joe started his career at East Hills Vision Care working for Dr. Jung as an optician in 1993 and has steadily worked his way up to his current Manager position. He is experienced in all optical lens types, specialty frames and various dry eye therapy training.

Carina

Carina has been with the practice since 2005. She received her Acredited ABO Certification in 2009 and is currently working towards her Advanced and Masters Diplomas for Opticians. Carina is highly trained in the use of ophthalmic equipment and keeps up with the latest advancements in lens technologies by attending educational seminars in her free time. Margaret

Margaret has been in the optical field for the last 4 years. She is currently working towards her certification with the American Board of Opticianry. She truly enjoys being a medical technician at East Hills Vision Care and is passionate about educating our patients on various eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Anne

Anne has been working in the optical field for 20 years. She started out in the lab and gradually moved to the front desk area due to her strong people skills.
